Video Shooting

Last Monday and Tuesday was a really tiring day for me. G Hotel hired ImageFarm to make a video shoot for the hotel and compile it into a 3 minute video. 3 minutes may be short but hell it was a lot of work. I was practically walking up and down the whole day bringing them around and it's not easy standing on high heels for a long period of time. I had to work till 10.30pm on Monday and 8.30pm on Tuesday. I feel shitty that I wasn't able to send Mark off at the airport. I was caught off at work and there's no chance I could leave work. Sorry Mark.. So yeah.. the video is for submission in the FIABCI Malaysia under Hotel Category.

I've got my G!!

Today's the day I got my official 'G' logo pin..
razz

Every new staff are required to attend 4 modules of culture training altogether.
Today was my first culture training and after the session, I was given the 'G' logo pin.
I was delighted hehe..
I have attended other trainings too before this and there will be more other upcoming trainings to attend.
The next one will be a beauty workshop.
It's compulsory for all staffs to attend several trainings every year to keep them in mind/update them about the things we must know and what are the things we must do and the don'ts.
In other terms, the purpose is to keep the standard of providing good and excellent services to our not only external customers but as well as the internal ones.
What I meant about the internal ones are among our staffs from different departments.
They are my internal customers.
I find these trainings really useful coz in other ways, it helps to break the ice and everyone gets to know one another.
Each training involves everyone's participation and it helps to build good mutual relationship among one another.
It's really fun too!
No wonder everyone is so 'together'

I have to work tomorrow sob sob!
It's only entirely a few hours coz there will be a charity event going on tomorrow with the Salvation Army.
Those of you who do not know, it's an orphanage home.
Each and every kid in the orphanage home is required to collect points for being a good kid.
So, when the minimum points are collected, they are allowed to come to G Hotel for a Swimming Day.
I'm not sure how many times a year they actually have this.
If I'm not mistaken, it's about every 3 months or so but we do have other events for them in the past and more in the future.

I was told that last year they are given a small piece of card to write down their Christmas wish and it's really sad that some of them wish for color pencil, pencil box and all sorts.
They wouldn't ask for much of course..
Color pencil is already a big deal to them.
Pitiful!

I won't be swimming with them tomorrow okay? Haha.. I don't want to be the only one swimming with them.. Oh no!
It's just a matter of a few hours of work tomorrow and I don't have to wake up that early.
Yay!
I don't have to work on Wed and Thurs so okay lah..
I won't have the blues tomorrow.
cool

It sings!!!?

My refrigerator can sing!! Don't play play man..
My refrigerator is kinda old and it starts to sing everytime it gets bored.
lol
I am not joking.
You can come over to my house of an entrance free and witness it yourself.
It does not sing very often but it sings at least 2 to 3 times a day.
Whenever the opera show starts, we have to open the refrigerator door and shuts it to stop the singing.
Cute eh?
Special eh??
How often do you get this kinda refrigerator?
Mine is special haha!

I Like My Job.. So Far...

Okay here's a little update about my new job. I love what I do so far and there is still a lot more to learn. I hope it gets better and there isn't anything I like least about my job. Everyone is so super friendly and they welcomed me with warmth like family. Everyone that I meet greeted me "Welcome Aboard!" wherever I go and my passport size picture was placed up on the notice board to welcome me as well.

My designation in the hotel is as a management trainee and I'll be working for them for 1 year. My contract ends next year in August and I'll be pursuing my studies then. You may think that 1 year is a very long time and I'm just wasting my time. If that' is what you think, I'll have to disagree with you. I don't see why I have to rush about finishing up my studies. After I graduate as a degree holder, I'll be working my whole life! Plus, I don't want to graduate without any related experience nor have a clear clue about what I do. I'll be in the Marketing Communication (Marcom) Department for 6 months, 3 months in Event Department and the last 3 months would be in either Sales Department or at the Front Desk. I am not so keen about going to the front desk coz the working schedule will be in shifts. Ivy (Marketing Communication Executive) told me that it's also up to me of going to which department so I'll see how it goes.

My job is to assist Ivy in her PR work, handle printing materials with the graphic designer, and take pictures for events. I have to read 2 types of newspapers everyday (NST and The Star), cut out any articles that is related to hotels or ads publication of GHotel for scanning, faxing documents, photocopying documents, make phone calls to order people for pick-ups (I feel like a boss haha), MSN, Facebook haha, and attended an interview with the General Manager by The Star. This is just the beginning part of my work and there are still lots to learn. There will be many upcoming events and charity event to be organized which 2 of it are for of Hannah Tan's. I hope it's going to be really fun! My very own email was finally been set-up (angie.chen@ghotel.com.my) earlier and I'm using a temporary laptop borrowed from the Sales Department. Until Ivy gets her laptop, then only she will pass on her computer to me.

I work only on weekdays which are one of the reasons I like my job haha. lol My work starts at 8.30am and ends at 5.15pm but I do not clock out on the dot. So far I normally leave the office about 6pm.

No more bumming around and contemplating about what to do everyday. I can still party on weekends! Ahaha.. biggrin

One More Time

Nice people still exist in this world. I was given a ride back to my place from Sg Nibong bus station by this kind malay lady. She offered giving me a ride after I asked her about taking the public bus back to Pulau Tikus. She told me that she stays in Pulau Tikus as well and she would ask her friend to drop me on the way. She was really nice and all and she speaks good english. I refused to her politely but she insisted that I should. Her friend and her are really easy going people and they are easy to get along with. Really nice people. I thanked them for giving me a ride and told them how much appreciated their kindness.

I was in KL for another weekend. You can say it's a celebration upon getting the job I wanted and a last short holiday before I start working. biggrin Most of all, it was Mark's fault that I couldn't resist the temptation. He really talked me into going there for one more time since he will be leaving to Shanghai and he told me how much he really wanted me there. Don't get the wrong idea please. He's such a great friend and I'm going to miss him! Too bad we didn't get to know each other much before that.

Well, all the best in everything you do Mark! wink

No More Play!

Guess what? I'm starting work tomorrow! Finally, yeah.. After all this while waiting.. I'll be working in Ghotel as a trainee manager but of course I'll be paid and all. I'm quite satisfied with the amount they will be paying me so I'm pretty glad. No more bumming around and play all day. It's time to get back to reality.. Sob! cry

Memorable Week with Family

This is a long overdue post which I didn't manage to blog before my kl trip. With my sister hogging the computer most of the time, I wasn't able to do my blogging (which she managed to).

Before my kl trip, as I have mentioned before that I was occupied with family gathering the whole weekend. Yup, the entire week was reserved especially for my beloved family. Okay, it sounded sarcastic but no I didn't mean that in any way.

On the day of their departure (my family from England), I was heading to Kuala Lumpur which there will be there too for a night but by the time I got there it was too late to meet up. They took a flight of course and they will be taking another flight back to England the following day.
One week flew by in just a flash.. Just when they arrived, the next thing you know it was already time for them to leave. Each visit was painful for my aunt and my grandma when it's time to say goodbye. Every 2 years without fail, my aunt will tell me that she might not or might see her mother again the next trip. It's so heartbreaking to hear her say that and I can imagine how that feels.

Okay enough of that emo talk, here are some pictures..

These pictures are taken during their first day arrival in Penang.
Dinner at Long Beach Cafe
My cousin Sophie and Ying Ying

My cousin James and Uncle Phillip

My aunt Sue having her sizzling noodle while me and Kristi listen to a stressful talk upon handling the problem of a family dinner and Kristi's 18th birthday falling on the same day. Go figure!

My uncle love taking candid shot! My aunt Mong Ai, mother to Ying Ying

My grandma and grandpa talking to my aunt (wife to my mom's first brother also the photographer for most of the pictures taken here)

Uncle Poon in white (mom's youngest brother, also in the family)

Cousin James, Hau Ming, brother Steven, cousin Kenny

Cousin Kelly, sister, Sophie and Ying Ying

One of my uncle was saying that my grandpa must be really proud coz all of us are what he produced! My gawd!

Look what I found..
Some old picture huh.. My grandma is the first one from the right.. razz

This is taken the following day after dinner. It's in Bayview Beach Hotel and everyone was already hungry again after smelling the aroma of yam cake. They are not having maggi mee in cup, there are using it for the yam cake. wink

Us looking at pictures brought here by aunt Sue.

James, Kenny, Hang Hang, and Hau Ming

Kenny's girlfriend, Jolene in the middle

The so called "trend" my cousin told me that spectacles are the in thing right now. Kind of ridiculous to wear a specs without any glass on it but who am I to tell them right. Those belongs to Kenny and her girlfriend.. What a lovely couple.. Hey I am not the only one who finds it ridiculous.. My cousin even has the t-shirt that has blinking lights on it.. Geez!

Uncle Phillip and Aunt Sue. So cute!! Haha! mrgreen

AHahahahha!

Family picture which I am not in it. I was at my sister's 18th birthday..

Celebrating my grandpa 80th birthday which I felt guilty for.. It wasn't his actual birthday but I guess I should have attended my sister's 18th birthday after instead but.. I'm not regretting of attending my sister's birthday first but yeah I felt a little guilt! sad

Wow my grandpa looked thousand times better with it than on my cousin haha.. lol

Although I wasn't there to celebrate his birthday and give you a kiss grandpa, Happy 80th birthday and I love you! Sorry I didn't make it.. cry

It will be such a bummer if they let me down coz I've been waiting impatiently and I don't want all my high expectations to go down the drain. My sister told me Gossip Girl sucks but she's now watching Gossip Girl Season 1 on DVD. After all the critcism she gave me.. Stupid a**! mrgreen Okay, got to go now.. Gossip Girl rawks!

Holla!

Angie has abandoned her blog for a week coz she was on a holiday. Yup! I was in KL again.. I went to KL last Friday and ought to come back on Monday coz I planned to go there just for the weekend. I ended up extending my stay which equivalent up to 5 days. Each day I told myself that I will be going back the next day since Monday but no.. I was having so much fun and I wasn't ready to leave. Everyday, at least one person will beg me to stay another day and knowing myself.. I am easily persuaded and I have a soft heart. Most of all, Eunice was literally trying to make me move to KL and wants me to stay there permanently. As in not forever but for a long time.

So I've spent my Independence celebration in KL and I had a blast! I hope ya'll had lots of fun as much as I did.. Gosh I'm so broke now.. Anyways, this is just a short update about what I've been up to and where I've been. Drop by soon for more.. biggrin

P.S: I'm in love with House music now.. Check out this video! I'm crazy over this song..... Shake it!

Shake it by Dj Lee Cabrera ft. Alex Cartana
